Sadness Graces my Grubby Toilet Window book

My grubby Toilet window book for the past few Months has been a copy of John Peels Autobiography. As he never finsihed it, half is written by his wife with a lot of honesty, openess and Love.
As I near the final pages a sadness and a turning away from it is starting to occur. I dont want to go to that place of regrets. I to used to clutch a demo tape in the hope of giving it to the one man who might play it on air. The hope of a kid who knew of nothing except music and art.
Nothings changed except the world know is content flooded. He used to listen to demos day in day out. I wonder how he could of coped with Soundcloud?
Its not weird that I dread that part, iits like the tension in a movie your seen a hundred times. Allthough I've already been there it holds the loss. Whilst I read of his life he lives when I reach his end he is no more but a memory again and I read something else, about science, or maths, and his is no more. Maybe thats why its poiniant.....

04 01 12 Art Space

Thought I'd try to make the only space that I can call mine into a productive Art Space.

I have a desk, Pc, scanner, record player, and Tilting Art Table. What more could a guy ask for?

01 01 12 New Year New Doodle's? No new years Sketch

I used to like to do pencils drawing when I was at upper school but havnt done any since. Using the different pencil thickness's, not knowing how to draw, all hsve daunted me I suppose. So I thought I would try an experiment and do a freehand Drawing.

My sister has to draw a drawing of a horse for a client, So I thought I'd have a Experiment and try to draw the same horse with Pencils on A3 sized paper. Ive never draw a landscape, portrait, horse, or fence, so its all new to me.

Was pleased it came out at all and found the whole thing to be really relaxing.

25 12 11 The Doodle that gave birth to Itself

I'd say this is the first Doodle that made me think maybe these doodles might even be Art to someone.

All the Doodles are done Abstractly without me intentionally adding any lines until they begin to form into shapes with a life of there own. I haven't set up a business yet ;) but any are available to buy, as Im still waiting for surgery.

RP and running

Having dealt with the issues surrounding RP from my early childhood to the present day was a difficult journey at first. When first diagnosed I wasn’t sure what the future would hold, what would I be capable of? What would I be able to see by the time I was 30? I seemed to have many questions and no idea how to manage the answers.

As I grew older I became more comfortable with my impending sight loss and carried on with my life. I drifted through college and found my way into a career in IT. After 10 years of career advancement I found myself in the unfortunate position of being made redundant. This gave me a great opportunity to assess my direction in life.

I decided it was time to truly test what I was capable of. I embarked on a new career and returned to college to gain the relevant qualification to attend university. I attended a regular college rather than a college that was targeted at the visually impaired. I believed it was important for me to adapt as well as the college in order to achieve personal goals.

Around the same time I started college I wanted to challenge myself physically. The biggest issue I had been having over the past few months was with my mobility. Moving around unaided had become incredibly difficult. So I wanted to find something that would challenge my mobility and push me mentally and physically.

I decided to start running, unable to afford a gym membership or a treadmill I only had one option: run outside. This was made slightly more complicated by the fact I didn’t have a guide runner. So despite being registered blind for over a decade I thought I would give running alone a try. I started by running on a football pitch; I would position myself between the goal posts and run to the other side of the pitch. I tracked my position using audio based GPS and ran up and down the field.

This proved very limiting and hazardous, so I thought I could translate the skills I had learnt on the fields to the road. I found myself a closed road and began to run up and down the road. Using audio GPS it was easy to track my location and pacing so began to build up the miles. After mastering the techniques I explored the local roads and began the transition to running on the open road alone. After memorizing a 2-mile route through the feel underfoot, audio GPS signals and using my ability to pick out certain visual elements such as a bus stop, I wanted to set myself a challenge.

I decided to train to run at the ultra distance, which is any distance above and beyond 26 miles. For my first race I chose to run a 100-mile hilly route in the Cotswolds. I aimed for 100 miles but only completed 83. I ran till I couldn’t stand and with non-functioning legs I was carried off the course. Since then I have completed other races including ultras and still continue to train outdoors alone.

Through running I was able to redefine my mental and physical limits. I achieved something people perceived impossible. When I thought about losing my vision as a child I never believed once blind I would learn to run alone and compete in one of the hardest running disciplines. Not only do I run at the ultra distance I compete against sighted people and beat them. Proving to myself and hopefully others that, a disability does not define what we can do. Those limits are still determined by what we believe we can do.

30 11 11 Frank Zappa Overload

This one had things in it both ways up so I felt I hadnt to show both which leads to a cool symetry anyways....

Daily Doodle 30 November 2011 Frank Zappa Overload

Quite obviously this ones a little charged with something weird. Just did it listening to a ultra Frank Zappa instrumental Vinyl round mels.

It was good but a little crazy, and not completely abstract. but even this wasn't as crazy as the nights other offerings which will come up soon.  I think me and Mel journey a little to deep into the unravellings state brought on by to much Zappa.

AS allways please do comment and thanks for looking.

22nd November 2011 - The Daily Doodle Physcadelia Jungle Style

In the book shop today the Manager said to me 'We were looking through the blog, Man you really like the fish and Eyeballs'' LOL  I supose its a circles and Angles thing. Drawn at Mels as usual, the House of the Doodle accompanied by not 70's rock but really cool Arabian Beats.

The Music behind the Doodle.

Drawn to Arabesque Zoudge. The track is Jah Wobble's Invaders of the Heart - Yalili Ya Ain. Im looking for a copy of this CD right now.

This track and whole CD is so cool. Arab Sounds mixed with cool beats I think no one could dislike this.

Enjoy and please let me know what you think, or your thoughts on how I could Improve the blog would be most appreciated and as always all art for sale just contact me.

21st November 2011 - The Three Distractions or Distracted by Good Things

 Now Thats a Mouthful!

1st Good Distraction

Its a Awesome Book. Currently my Toliet Book XD Always the best place to read  I think its because you know John Peels voice so well when your into truly different music so much. He speaks to you on a totally human level without any kind of Ego it seems. He was just the man who brought the music to the airwaves, he thought. I think he was much more Read It.

2nd Good Distraction

Ive mentioned it in Passing, but I have a De-generative Eye Condition  called RP. In short in 10 years I will be Legally Blind if Im lucky Ive got a few more years on top of that.

How is this a Positive Distraction? you say. Well its not, but joining a select group of people on facebook who can talk openly about how they cope with this has helped me a lot. The group is the Visually Impaired/Blind Men's Group If your  guy like me who is losing his sight they can be a real help. A Big thanks to tem for turning my gloom around yesterday.

If you can see the humor in tradegy you may just be allrght :)

3rd Good Distraction

Im franklymydear on there. (Thanks Dan for that Name :P ) Come Challenge me at chess on there, I'm not that good but its fun.

Thanks for Looking Doodle to come latter, please comment.

15th November 2011 - Rock N Roll

Post for 15th November 2011

Probably one of my Favorites to sketch so far, It screams Rock and Roll. Although It came from a stressed environment, the football was on and I was hid away in My sisters farmhouse Kitchen. I love farmhouse kitchen Tables the chance of me ever having such a luxury slim to nil but enjoying someone else's to draw on, Priceless.

This one, although quite easily drawn in Just about 2 Hours in my sisters Kitchen, was a Nightmare. Although It is just a single A2 Image, I had to scan it in 6 Sections on 2 different a4 Scanners just to get something I could match up. If it had been colour it would have been completely Impossible. I may have to sell some just to be able to afford a scanner to scan them in.

There was no music on but if there was I'd imagine it'd be cool but melencholy, so I'll stick on some Bon Iver

Thanks for looking If anyone is interested in buying anything just let me know.
