29 12 11 - Eye Drops Retinal Shots

Welcome to the Darkside of my Eye, The Y shaped flecks are the Retinitis Pigmentosa Deterioration which will continue through my cones in Y Shaped patterns.

The optician said his Camera wasnt good enough really to catch all the deterioration, there are specialcamera's where they would compress your eye to fit it all in.

The Eye drops where hell.....

25 12 11 The Doodle that gave birth to Itself

I'd say this is the first Doodle that made me think maybe these doodles might even be Art to someone.

All the Doodles are done Abstractly without me intentionally adding any lines until they begin to form into shapes with a life of there own. I haven't set up a business yet ;) but any are available to buy, as Im still waiting for surgery.

The Music...

A Awesome colloborations of mordern musicians, Vic Chesnutt's album  North Star Deserter featuring heavily  A Silver Mount Zion, and another personal fave DC Hardcore ledgend Guy Picciotto from Fugazi. The music can not fail to move at some level.

When I Got in I put on a rare Velvet Underground Vinyl I picked up in Cambridge called Orange Disaster, It was pretty rough recordings but still really cool to draw to, John Cale was still there and that was the important thing.

Here they are doing a Tract Nirvana would later cover, Enjoy.

20 12 11 - RP and Running - Truly Inspiring Blind Athlete

Below is a really inspiring Guest Post by Simon a blind Extreme Distance Runner so I am going to run it again Today on the Doodle.

Sea Bear 17/12/11

Special Guest Blog todays by Simon Wheatcroft, Simon has the Same degenerative eye condition as me Retinitis Pigmentosa. Receiving his story today in my Face book inbox really cheered me up, The more people I talk to with the more inspired and moved I am to keep doing the things I do.

Simon Wheatcroft's Guest Blog

RP and running

Having dealt with the issues surrounding RP from my early childhood to the present day was a difficult journey at first. When first diagnosed I wasn’t sure what the future would hold, what would I be capable of? What would I be able to see by the time I was 30? I seemed to have many questions and no idea how to manage the answers.

As I grew older I became more comfortable with my impending sight loss and carried on with my life. I drifted through college and found my way into a career in IT. After 10 years of career advancement I found myself in the unfortunate position of being made redundant. This gave me a great opportunity to assess my direction in life.

I decided it was time to truly test what I was capable of. I embarked on a new career and returned to college to gain the relevant qualification to attend university. I attended a regular college rather than a college that was targeted at the visually impaired. I believed it was important for me to adapt as well as the college in order to achieve personal goals.

Around the same time I started college I wanted to challenge myself physically. The biggest issue I had been having over the past few months was with my mobility. Moving around unaided had become incredibly difficult. So I wanted to find something that would challenge my mobility and push me mentally and physically.

I decided to start running, unable to afford a gym membership or a treadmill I only had one option: run outside. This was made slightly more complicated by the fact I didn’t have a guide runner. So despite being registered blind for over a decade I thought I would give running alone a try. I started by running on a football pitch; I would position myself between the goal posts and run to the other side of the pitch. I tracked my position using audio based GPS and ran up and down the field.

This proved very limiting and hazardous, so I thought I could translate the skills I had learnt on the fields to the road. I found myself a closed road and began to run up and down the road. Using audio GPS it was easy to track my location and pacing so began to build up the miles. After mastering the techniques I explored the local roads and began the transition to running on the open road alone. After memorizing a 2-mile route through the feel underfoot, audio GPS signals and using my ability to pick out certain visual elements such as a bus stop, I wanted to set myself a challenge.

I decided to train to run at the ultra distance, which is any distance above and beyond 26 miles. For my first race I chose to run a 100-mile hilly route in the Cotswolds. I aimed for 100 miles but only completed 83. I ran till I couldn’t stand and with non-functioning legs I was carried off the course. Since then I have completed other races including ultras and still continue to train outdoors alone.

Through running I was able to redefine my mental and physical limits. I achieved something people perceived impossible. When I thought about losing my vision as a child I never believed once blind I would learn to run alone and compete in one of the hardest running disciplines. Not only do I run at the ultra distance I compete against sighted people and beat them. Proving to myself and hopefully others that, a disability does not define what we can do. Those limits are still determined by what we believe we can do.

17.12.11 - Daily Doodle The Undertow of the Subconcious Comes Full Circle

While I was studying Graphic Design I did some of this made design work. I got terrible grades because the Art was always late and I went miles off theme, But I was pleased with most of the work that resulted.

I created the song on my four track one miserable morning. I just sat down and played and there it was, another marvel of the subconscious.

As always thanks for looking and please do comment.

14 12 11 - London Paris Moscow New York

Here goes the first Scheduled Post.

141211b

Firstly some good news about the Artist. My surgery was delayed but i had t go see the Surgeon to get some bad news. The Surgery is delayed  and I need a new Scan. This is horrible, If it goes just a week longer it means being off work for more that 8 months, and bang goes my job.

But the good news, the doctor said I should phone to offer to take a cancellation for the scan, take anything. I was parallelized with fear at the prospect of phoning, any making of phone calls cause me anxiety. But I plunged ahead afte4r a whole day of worry. I got in tonight which was totally unexpected, I'd highly recommend trying that if your going inot surgery and you need a scan and your worried about the length of time your been off work.

The Doodle is called Animal Crackers, Marker Pens on A2 Paper. Took about one and a half hours to do, double that to scan the monster.

You get a Scanned in Doodle today  instead of a photo. Im going to try predating my post so they go Automatically up. I'm going to try 8.30 New York time first, to just catch those people about to start work Idling on there computers.

Bloggers What do you think s the best time to post and what do you make of the Doodle?

I'm becoming more and more distracted of late by the Computer.  Just its prescience is fuzzing up my brain.

I can remember a time when I felt on top of my ADD and it definitely didn’t involve any static buzz and whirring hidden drive beasties.

Therefore for a few days at least I am going to try and keep the computer to a minimum, and face book although offering me so much opportunity to 2 scheduled times a day.   Anybody else readings this facing similar problems and a lot of PC Time?

08 12 11 - Bad News Doodle or Animal Crackers ?

Today you get the not so good doodle of the 2 I did this evening......
It started with a phonecall last night from the hospital, operations not going to happen on moday, maybe sometime in Janurary. Then I got to go see the surgeon and the first thing he says is 'this scans too old' :O so no surgery until a new scan is done.
Looking on the brightside, plenty more art to come. The down side, Pain of course and more importantly I miss working with the kids a lot, they keep me sane.

04 12 11 - Eyes Sharp Like Shrapnel

This is a Poem I improvised yesterday for a guest blog on Arjuns blog along with this A2 marker pen Doodle

My Guest post on the Brush banging \,,/ - Poems and Drawings Blog

Eyes Sharp like Shrapnel,

I saw the dew,

there was the feedback,

between your trusted Empty interior,

I felt for the cavity,

A Stare, a causal glance,

a trial by fire,

to tear free,

and then a chance,

yet thoughts like scribbling,

They feed from the heavens,

After they rain down in Finish,

below we grasp at shards,

reaching for metallic feelings,

Sipping on the Juices of the Void,

A empty sentence,

a walk in a direction,

a meaningless exchange,

a sense of regret,

a freedom so revealing,

Peace in the sky,

bring forward the emptiness,

the blinding of light,

twins though crippled,

fire comes from there hands,

Eyes like Shrapnel

Eyes like Shrapnel,

Eyes like Shrapnel

Eyes like Shrapnel

Eyes like Shrapnel..............

First poem in over a Decade written abstractly than the order shifted a little whilst listening to a Silver Mount Zion

And you can hear just fine

3.What is happening to me?
You think to yourself.

'The clock just ticked again..'

(silence)

the exact same tick happened a moment ago.

Is this possible?

02 12 11 - Daily Doodle 'and now for something Completely Different'

Art done on A2 sat round Mel's Place in the usual abstract manor. Its growing on me each time I see it.

I think these post are getting Latter and Latter. Today is a Momentous Day got my first ever piece of Art in a shop. My Local book shop in Biggleswade Suzie's. They have room allocated for more so I'm on to mounting them pronto.

So weird I only started doing Abstract Art for just Art sake, not some Graphic Design rubbish Course four Weeks back and I feel a lot has change. I've found a way to chill out and Let go with the prospect of something useful at the end. All the skills for finishing and mounting, scanning, like they have at last came together for a unplanned purpose.

The Music

The Art was done at Mels last Saturday night, took about an hour to draw, Markers on A2.  I cant remember what so here something as far offy from Zappa as aman can get but a great tune by Mathew Ryan, totally honest song writer and completely honest songwriting.

Missing Nico :)

Thanks for looking, Tomorrow I guest On Arjun's Blog and He guest's on Mine so that will be super cool.

24 11 11 - Daily Doodle War on Bruce Springsteen

Last night sitting in the Living room with Becky and this emerges........

It seemed the obvious choice to call it War on Springsteen. There isnt much music that really really frustrates me, but Sorry BS Fans, all Bruce is a loser.

Its like he needs some kind of sound Injection. They call it Rock N Roll but to these ears, I'm not hearing the Rocking or the Rolling.

The Piece, as Usual its marker pen, this time on A2 folded to be A1. Come Fly With Me, was on BBC iPlayer and I was just drawing Random Lines as usual. The Whole Piece took the Usual hour Max. I think it represents kicking his lame butt. ;)

I might Digitize it at some point, I'm picturing a lot of RED here, or maybe Army Greens. A Big Reed White and Blue American, Gun Ho, Bonanza Maybe.

Let me know what you think of Bruce Lame Head, an if you strongly Disagree. Also let , me know if you want to buy anything. You'd be the first ever person to buy a piece of Frank Art.

The Blog is 2 Weeks Old Today and posting Daily.

Blooming.eu
Redirected frankart.co.uk to hit allendesign.eu site today. The plan is to at least atempt to become a commercial artist and sell a print, but i've got to be honest what ever possessed me to go for. Eu...
From a business angle, really not my usual angle on anything, it is insane. People are bound to presume im outside the Uk somewhere in some Balkan state and instantly say, Im not bothering with that bloomin caffuffle.
The Important thing for me as allways though is that the art remains pure and uncontrived and I think im still sucseeded at that.

30 11 11 Frank Zappa Overload

This one had things in it both ways up so I felt I hadnt to show both which leads to a cool symetry anyways....

Daily Doodle 30 November 2011 Frank Zappa Overload

Quite obviously this ones a little charged with something weird. Just did it listening to a ultra Frank Zappa instrumental Vinyl round mels.

It was good but a little crazy, and not completely abstract. but even this wasn't as crazy as the nights other offerings which will come up soon.  I think me and Mel journey a little to deep into the unravellings state brought on by to much Zappa.

AS allways please do comment and thanks for looking.

What I know.

DANS GUEST POST

I guess it's my turn to guest on here. I was struggling for a while to think of anything to post since I don't draw well and Frank's is mainly an art blog, so I finally realised the best thing for me to do was write, about Frank.
Firstly I met Frank through a mutual friend, where he introduced me to his sister who is now my lovely wife, and I've considered him one of my closest friends since. It's what I consider to be true friendship, we don't see eye to eye on everything and sometimes we annoy each other but it doesn't even matter.

Frank is quiet, not that he is shy as he has a tendency to know exactly the wrong although funny thing to say in certain situations, (To the geeky checkout guy handing Frank his change, "Seeya loser!") neither that he is observing everything intently, Due to his ASD Frank is mostly on another level something which might be apparent from his artwork so far.
All in all Franks a good friend who has introduced me to endless comic books films and entire genres of music I might have else ignored.
The video below is just an example. I remember the words Frank used when he handed me this CD "I don't know why I haven't already made you listen to this, It's way overdue man"

22nd November 2011 - The Daily Doodle Physcadelia Jungle Style

In the book shop today the Manager said to me 'We were looking through the blog, Man you really like the fish and Eyeballs'' LOL  I supose its a circles and Angles thing. Drawn at Mels as usual, the House of the Doodle accompanied by not 70's rock but really cool Arabian Beats.

The Music behind the Doodle.

Drawn to Arabesque Zoudge. The track is Jah Wobble's Invaders of the Heart - Yalili Ya Ain. Im looking for a copy of this CD right now.

This track and whole CD is so cool. Arab Sounds mixed with cool beats I think no one could dislike this.

Enjoy and please let me know what you think, or your thoughts on how I could Improve the blog would be most appreciated and as always all art for sale just contact me.

21st November 2011 - The Three Distractions or Distracted by Good Things

 Now Thats a Mouthful!

1st Good Distraction

Its a Awesome Book. Currently my Toliet Book XD Always the best place to read  I think its because you know John Peels voice so well when your into truly different music so much. He speaks to you on a totally human level without any kind of Ego it seems. He was just the man who brought the music to the airwaves, he thought. I think he was much more Read It.

2nd Good Distraction

Ive mentioned it in Passing, but I have a De-generative Eye Condition  called RP. In short in 10 years I will be Legally Blind if Im lucky Ive got a few more years on top of that.

How is this a Positive Distraction? you say. Well its not, but joining a select group of people on facebook who can talk openly about how they cope with this has helped me a lot. The group is the Visually Impaired/Blind Men's Group If your  guy like me who is losing his sight they can be a real help. A Big thanks to tem for turning my gloom around yesterday.

If you can see the humor in tradegy you may just be allrght :)

3rd Good Distraction

Im franklymydear on there. (Thanks Dan for that Name :P ) Come Challenge me at chess on there, I'm not that good but its fun.

Thanks for Looking Doodle to come latter, please comment.

12th November 2011 Daily Doodle

My third Day of posting a daily Doodle. The bit at the front was purely abstract then the rest was intentional. 'Way out, in the water, See in swimming'

Im off to Cambridge again, I'll try add some illumination later.

15th November 2011 - Rock N Roll

Post for 15th November 2011

Probably one of my Favorites to sketch so far, It screams Rock and Roll. Although It came from a stressed environment, the football was on and I was hid away in My sisters farmhouse Kitchen. I love farmhouse kitchen Tables the chance of me ever having such a luxury slim to nil but enjoying someone else's to draw on, Priceless.

This one, although quite easily drawn in Just about 2 Hours in my sisters Kitchen, was a Nightmare. Although It is just a single A2 Image, I had to scan it in 6 Sections on 2 different a4 Scanners just to get something I could match up. If it had been colour it would have been completely Impossible. I may have to sell some just to be able to afford a scanner to scan them in.

There was no music on but if there was I'd imagine it'd be cool but melencholy, so I'll stick on some Bon Iver

Thanks for looking If anyone is interested in buying anything just let me know.

17th November 2011 - Astro Light

Heres the Doodle transfered to the computer at last.

I saw some quite obvious Images emerge from these lines but when I showed them to Mel he really couldn't see them at all. I wonder if any one picks out the two futuristic figures for what they are. Have fun and see what you see, then let me know.

Made me laugh how drugged up this looks, I take no recreational drugs but I could see how it could appear that way with this one.

Its taken me hours to scan this A2 abstract doodle onto a A4 scanner, It took me only an hour to draw typical.

Drawing was round Mels listening to Mahavishnu Orchestra's 'Birds of Fire' on original Vinyl. Mel used to run a record shop before his Life fell apart and has shown me some wonders from the early 70's. When Jazz Rock Fusion had a dirty sound and it was all going on in the Jam.

This Song is Mahavishnu Orchestra's Miles Beyond from the Album Birds of Fire. Really playing with time signatures in a grand way.

20th November 2011 - Abstract Structure to Live Art (Deconstruction Festival)

Was really pleased with this Doodle, Its loosely based on a doodle I did stood in a corner at a live gig.

The gig was in Luton and it was called Deconstruction Festival. Experimental band, after experimental band, with wavs and waves of the Improvised beautiful Noise. So I found a perch on a Armchair and drew the whole 8 hours with breaks of course. My lines where controlled by the flow of the music and this is what I created to the Band 'Coldstream' found here on Myspace

I think its down to the Aspergers, I go into a state of hyper focus which can go on for hours. Beep and Hiss akimbo the music, music for people who like there music to go out there, way out there.

I enjoyed the whole day immensely, Lost in the Doodle until the early Hours of the Morning with no worries or Cares, I think it was when I truly discovered how Calming the Doodle could be.

Thanks for Looking,

Tell me about what you like to do art to, and what , music makes your creative juices go wild?

The first Doodle Cleaned up to The Groundhogs 1972 LP 'Split'

The first ever daily Doodle cleaned up a bit. Contact me if you would like a print of it, or would like to buy the Original. My opertion is in three weeks now and Im still off work at the nursery.

 The Music Behind The Doodle

This first Doodle from last week and the blogs birth was also partially inspired by this Amazing album from 1972 by the Groundhogs called 'Split'. This is at the very heights of 70's fusion and it is Awesome to behold.

If I was in a band like this I'd think I had died and woken up in Paradise.

18th November 2011 - Jupiter Explodes Pt 2 or 'So What happened as the Doodle'...

It may just be that I'm really really tired, but Ive never like this A2 sized marker pen doodle from start to finish. It began on Wednesday night at Mels as usual but I was in a overtired state hiding from emotional extended family so not a good start all ready. I was blindly adding Layer upon Layer as the music went on and I got tireder and tireder until finally I called it quits. One of the rare occasions where I didn't melt into
the doodle.

So it started off a abandoned birth, the mother stoned for conceiving it and then grew by its own strength despite any will left on my part into an unholy monster, how weird is that one?

The Music

Was listening to a 60's experimental outfit led by Sun Ra, even weirder than the picture even by oddly relaxing.

Thanks for looking
